HAHAHAHA! :roflmao:

You get something like "Biased Tone" imo. That is when a Strat into a Deluxe sounds crap compared to your Squire into MGdfx!

Interesting perspectives. ?

I never vote for my own stuff. I hear the reasoning behind those that do, and that's cool. I just personally don't think it's cricket, and all that. I'd rather spend my vote on someone else who could use some encouragement, if I truly believe my entry is the best. I also like to feel that, if I have a shot at winning the comp', I'll be doing so on the basis of what other people think, rather than what I think.

Well done all, looking fwd to next month's challenge. ?

While we're on about being biased, or getting biased in this case ? ..... please gooi us a quick definition on what it means to bias a valve amp? Ta.

Highway-Chile

Tam basically there is an adjustment on some tube amps that allows you to make small changes to the amount of control voltage at the tube grid which adjusts the total amount of idle current flowing to the plate of the tube. Small increments of change in the grid voltage causes large changes in current at the tube plate. This is almost always done by an experienced tech and most often, if the amps have a trim pot, they are located inside the amp to keep the untrained person away.

It is a way to fine tune the tubes to each other in very basic language, because among other things...valve tubes are often mismatched between each other as far as being within spec so if you change out a tube or tubes...... there may be a discrepancy between them...... and also, extended use and vibration can put them out of adjustment. This might result in excessive hum, the amp running too hot and maybe the sound lacking punch and definition or maybe be overly distorted.....not in a nice way perhaps.

There are other experts here who can explain it better, but that's it in a nutshell.

It is NOT something you want to open a tube amp and putz around with......the current in there can kill.
