Basses at NAMM 2012
Ok. So would it not be a great idea to have piezo saddles on a bass guitar? So you could put it through some modelling type devices and get anything from different electric bass tones, to acoustic bass guitar tones, to the tone - if not the sound - of a bass fiddle?
It seems the bass designs are a little more conservative than some of what's happening in guitar.

I don't like piezos anywhere ?
Mainly cause I want to justify procuring an upright anyway ?
You're right the designs aren't that varied but like widdly widdly guitars they're based on some classics: Rickenbacker, Fender Jazz, Fender Precision, Warwick, eye-gougers and then the boutique guys.

It's not common, but is available and the Roland VG units support bass. Fairly limited choices though.singemonkey wrote: Ok. So would it not be a great idea to have piezo saddles on a bass guitar?
My man! :applause: There's a guy been trying to get rid of a Sergio Paliaga made one on Gumtree for a while. He's willing to swap for a P-Bass or looking for R6,500 cash (IIRC).Jack Flash Jr wrote: I want to justify procuring an upright anyway ?
BTW - Recently watched a video with local born YoYo Buys (remember The Usual? Also plays Stick...) playing electric upright for a hang drummer. Awesome Tony Levin type tone.

Looks like the upright is still available.
