The only other guitarist that I think deserves as much credit and adoration as Satch does, is Andy Timmons.
I read an interview with him the other day where he said he never focused on being flashy, it just came with time. That's nice and probably the reason why his stuff is so easy to listen to.
Apparently his (IMO) best song, Cry For You was just about entirely improvised! He had a melody down and then improvised the rest over 2 parts and stuck them together for us.
I can hear when he's doing this because it's what sounds the best. The stuff that's too carefully planned can be dry at times but still amazing. Just not AS amazing as his "natural" stuff. If you get what I'm trying to say.
Improv to me is really important. I have so much fun with it but I make way too many mistakes.
The problem with improv is that, if you're feeling kak, you should be careful what you play because your emotions will always shine through. Either that or you'll just plain stink! ?
