  • Advice please: Effects

I have R5000 that I want to spend on a small second effects setup.

Should I put a small board together consisting of an overdrive, delay, volume pedal and something like the Line 6 M5, or would I be better off getting a Line 6 M13?

If I go the stompbox route, what are some recommendations? They obviously can't be boutique pedals, and I definitely want a delay with tap tempo and the ability to store presets.

Greatly appreciated.
L6 M13 or maybe even a TC Nova System - second hand of course. Either will cover everything you need. Single pedals would be very limiting on a tight budget as a programmable delay alone would take up a whole heap of your budget all by itself.
      isnt the L6 M13 almost R10k??
Retail, Yeah - which means about R7K street price new, which means about R5K second hand. I've seen them going for less.
Thanks for the advice. The Nova system isn't my cup of tea - don't enjoy the patch based system or the "pristine" effects, as well as the lack of any modulated delay. I'm going with the M13, can get it new for around R5000.

You can run it patch or manual and it has modulated delay (TC invented modulated delay ?). But yeah, I get you on the pristine thing - that and one or two other little bugbears are the only reasons I don't have a G-System.
Then a well known music review site made a mistake about the modulated delay ? haha.

The biggest thing is that apparently you can only have one delay saved per patch, under the "delay" stomp.

I also read some shocking comments about the G-System on TC's website, kinda put me off.

                Where?? (Please excuse my curiosity!!)
No problem. Actually got that quote from two music stores in Cape Town. I don't think anyone else will be able to get those prices though - the owners are friends of mine. Just less than 5k in fact. You could try, though.
