Nice! Mine's a '96 as well, but just a regular model.
Were the 50th anniversary models all maple capped with gold hardware or is yours part of an even more limited run within the limited run? Looks like a keeper for sure, congrats on your new baby 8)
They made 2500 of the Limited ones, there are a few little upgrades including staggered pole pups (American standard 50th pickups according to the spec sheet) and gold hardware. Each guitar is numbered.
EDIT: I just read your post again. The limiteds are all gold, they all were the same colour and spec, no variants.
Just for interest sake, where did you buy this beauty?
Tell you why, I think I was the first owner of this guitar many years ago. I can't remember exactly what the number of mine was, but there is a definite light-bulb going off in my head. I bought mine brand new when they came out, was about '96 if I remember correctly. Does it still have the original case? Black hard case with silver Fender logo on it? Probably, cos the inside of your case looks like mine did. Apparently only 3 of these were allocated to SA....or so I was told by the salesman.
I very rarely played it live and had it for about 2 years.
Then I hit rock-bottom and had no money to pay rent one month. Took it to Jurie's and sold it for R3500. Paid rent and regretted selling the axe ever since.
Maybe, just maybe, she used to be mine.
A rare guitar in this part of the woods. Look after her.
