So, almost a year after finishing my very first self built guitar, I decided it was time to do some mods.

I have a new tele and an LP Special in the pipeline, so the time is perfect to finally try out some new tele mods that I've been reading about.
First up... Neck inserts! I'm no corksniffer - this isn't about better sustain, improved neck to body contact or any of that. ? I just don't like woodscrews, and I have seen a crack developing in my maple neck after many many times of removing and re tightening the neck, so I wanted a better solution.
The holes were predrilled, then threaded, then hit with some thin CA to harden the thread. I used self cutting steel inserts as well.
Using bolts to tighten the inserts.
Finished product.. Couple of tooling marks, should have been more careful! >☹
I wanted a P90 in the neck, just for variety. I do love the Bill Lawrence keystones that are currently in there, but it's time for something different. The router bit in and took a small chunk out of the body.... irritating, but fortunately covered by the pickguard.
Routed a new P90 sized hole in a pickguard that MikeM graciously gave me.
Next up, arm contour. I don't really get tele rash but I just really miss woodwork. So off it goes! ?
New bridge pickup, courtesy of Zhangbucker. 8.5k Alnico V.. nice and fat!
Lastly, I made a brass tonebar with a milling machine. This is going to replace the standard tele ferrules. I made a mess of the routing, because I rushed.. so no pics of that! ☹
