This JMI AC30 dates from early '65...the so-called "Normal" model, which I prefer to the "Top-boost" models for its richness in tone.

The transformers and choke are original, almost a must for that vintage tone.....a few caps and resistors have been replaced over the years

Even the footswitch is still there....unusaul to find it with these old amps

Cosmetically this amp is in very good shape....original vinyl covering, handles, vents, feet and corner protectors......grill cloth is a recent replacement.

Its silver alnico speakers

    Wow! That is nice condition.

That's the AC30-4 with an EF86 in the preamp right? I know guys like them with Treble Boosters to brighten them up and they are wonderfully rich.

Aren't you going to leave any AC30s in the Cape for anyone else, BTW? ?

      ?

These are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in condition such as this one.
Alan this is a "Normal" model...... Has 4 ECC83's and an ECC82 in the prea-amp. They made them as Normal, or Bass or Treble models prior to the Top-boosted ones. You're right...one could get a top-boost kit which could be added at the back of the amp to boost treble frequencies...... but with modern (high output pups) guitars it's not really necessary to add treble boosters to these AC30's.
Great buy Vic, i am also amazed with the condition..... congrats mate

Hahahaha...... Vic, if I can negotiate this successfully, you will definitely be the first to know ...... but I think I've played all my cards, and the other half is not falling for those tricks anymore, not even the "children will inherit" story ....... ? your hint is hidden in there somewhere ..... ?

BTW. did you see the '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp on sale here? What do you think, good price? No, it's not that ...... just thought I'd mention .....

                    Yes, I saw the Fender amp advertised.....the specs look quite good I think...pity it's a 1x12 . (Keep in mind it's a '65 re-issue)
                      beautifull amp and nice score
It is nice to know, so many beautifull gems are still "hidden" here in SA

It's a trifle disconcerting when people refer to "really old amps" ... that were made after I was born.
                        ?

                          Wiz....you're not alone....you're not alone.... ?

However for electrical equipment it's "very old" I guess.
                            6 days later
                            Congrats Vic ?

May she bring you many hours of pleasurable tone!
