Well, there is only one of each AFAIK. That '57 Vintage is a good 'un - I've played it.

think you have an extra nought in there somewhere.

plus, MSRP for that guitar is $2,199.99. thats lots of deneri considering there is still shipping and extras on top of that..

i think its fairly priced by Guitartone. sure, the guitar itself may be overpriced, but thats another story that you will have to take up with Fender and not Guitartone.

Kapepper, what do you think is a fair price for a new '57 then ?
It would have to go for around 15k if they are claiming to do a clearance,

17k looks to me like regular retail (and 17k is still 1,983.00 USD)

To my knowledge MSRP prices are never used in stores, maybe and except in South Africa

well, I dont want to start another discussion "how expensive is gear in SA" but it is just that when you see the word clearance you would except a bity more discount

at the other hand, i dont know anything about profit margins on guitars....so maybe it is a good deal after all and maybe you can reduce the price with another 2k in store

So for Guitartone that would be R13157...
cause 14% VAT goes to the receiver...
can you see how much you 'stealing' if you take it for R15k?

You can get R8.57 on a dollar now?
Can you give me your contact or how you do it...

I just paid $2700 through my credit card for a cruise in Vietnam and it went through closer to 9!!!! ?

Its a fair price... Carry on

A quick online search reveals that the guitar is selling at a couple stores for around $1599
<Sigh> Local SA retail is R26,995 - depending on exchange rate (no stock at the moment), so by local market prices it was already a good price.

OK. So you are willing to buy from a US store and basically lose your warrantee... And bearing in mind that no reputable US store will sell outside the US...

                    Discounted price: $1,599/R13,736.51
                    Add VAT: R1,923.11
                    Add bank "International" charges: R230
Add at least $150/R1,259 for shipping (probably double that)
                    Add clearance fee: R130
                    Add disbursement fee: R95

                    Total R17,373.62

So you'll end up paying at least a couple of hundred rand more and still lose your warrantee. Go for it. ?
