Whoever you're thinking of taking lessons with, talk to them first so that there is clarity about your skill levels and your goals. They may be able to offer advice or a good deal on a guitar.
Don't rush out to Cash Convertors and buy one of their in-house brands. A poorly made guitar will lead you into thinking there's a deficiency in you when the reality is that there's a deficiency in the guitar. Buy 2nd hand - you'll get more bang per buck that way. If you have transport then go down to Music Connection in Randburg on a weekend and ask to speak to Richard. He'll give you good advice.
