Cricket. Cough.

The Protea's old problem of not being able to clean up the tail rears it's head again. Oz's 8th wicket fell at 214. Now at drinks this morning they are 268/8. 54 runs with Peter Siddle at the crease and only Nathan Lyons still to bat. ☹ I reckon Oz are starting to feel like they got out of jail (or that Clarke got them out).

I reckon we need Bob to turn on his TV and tell us all how well the Aussies are playing!!!!!!!!

Hahaha! I make that 4 for about 50. ?

Watch both of them go out straight after tea.

Whose side are you on?

And you're wrong. They will both get a ton before the drinks break.

GaryMac

5 down.

Keep it up Bob, you are doing a grand job!!!!!!!!

6 down.

Come on Bob, a few pearls of wisdom with regards to how well Johnson and Haddin can bat would be appreciated at this point.

Throw another srimp on the barbie Sheila!!!!!!

GaryMac

Bob-Dubery

Cummins & Johnson would bat @ 3 & 4 for most other teams

Bob-Dubery

Lyons. I can hardly watch. He'll smack Steyn & Co all over the park. I'd rather see us bowl to Gilchrist.

GaryMac

Bob, you biscuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right Bob, you were conspicuous by your absence today.

So

Tell us how great that Ponting character is and how he will win the game single handed for the Aussies.........................................

First you have to understand that there are days when Dale Steyn will bowl 10 straight overs of magic and not get as much as a nibble.

But Ponting? Well, he must have a couple of good knocks left in him, and today gives him a chance to finish of in SA (I doubt we'll see him here again) with his average up around the 60 mark. Of course that'll require some good support from Clarke and Hussey, but that's a formality.

GaryMac

You could tell us how sunny, warm and dry it will be up here on the Highveld today and that there is no rain forecast.
Therefore we will definately get a full days play in!!!!!!!!!!!

(For those not located in the Joburg area it has been bouncing down with rain all night and its still chucking it down this morning as I type this)

I just want to say (whilst the result is still to be decided) that this match shows just why 5-day cricket is such a great game. I can't think of any other game that gives such sustained drama, so many ebbs and flows and so many games within a game.

Third day there was the familiar rattling of stumps early on and the match swung towards Australia. Then Amla and de Villiers steadied the ship through the afternoon and the balance swung away from Australia and into no-man's land by the close of play.

The 4th day was particularly good as Amla and de Villiers bat through the first session and now the pendulum swings towards South Africa.

Then a clatter of wickets again as Australia fight their way back into the game. The Oz quicks decide to start bouncing Steyn. He's now licking his lips at what might happen when he has the ball and they have the bat. THEN he decides to give them a bit back and starts scoring.

There was the brief but intense drama of Tahir (a genuine number 11) having to face an over from Siddle, getting the full treatment (except maybe a yorker) and even getting a clumsy but emphatic boundary.

SA get past the 330 mark, and 300 to win in a Test match is never a trivial task. Advantage South Africa.

Early wickets as Philander moves the new ball around. Advantage emphatically to South Africa.

Then Ponting and Khawaja dig in and start another fight back. Ponting is finally playing like Ricky Ponting, and the match is well poised overnight. Let's the hope the weather holds. This is a pretty good cricket match so far.

Why do you want that? An overcast Wanderers is nearly always friendly towards the bowlers.

+1

Overcast it will be the whole day, first hours play we need to do some damage. I think Philander and Steyn are going to be a handful this morning.
Tahir to clean up later...

Oh and Boucher must get out... out... out... out... out...

GaryMac

Right rain stopped here at present.

So hopefully it clears up sufficiently to allow play but stays cloudy enough to help the bowlers.

I hope they rattle through them quickly as I cant wait to see Dale Steyn bowling at the Aussie fast bowlers who gave him a hard time yesterday with bouncers and even put him on his rear a couple of times.

Maybe he has already forgotten about that.

Yeah right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

? ? ? ? ?
