Thanks Reinhard....I certainly will post something along the lines of comparing it to the Bandmaster and Showmaster.

          great amp vic.........

since you said look and you shall find if anyone wants a vintage amp

just a heads up ....... if anyone's interested in an original fender 63 vibrolux amp in blonde ..just the head NO cab ..i know a dude (casual aquaintance) who's selling one ..and he i think he only wants 3 -4 k for it so not too expensive (remember it's just the head ) ......and it's in pretoria

a disclaimer ... i can't vouch for this amp or it's condition ...... it's just what i heard from someone i met in my local music store and know him from idle chatter when we bump into each other in the store .......... in fact he's the dude i bought my elk es30 from which got converted/modded by jp .... and i do know he was collecting old amps .... also pm me and i will get his number for you ....i don't even have it on hand but i can find it easily enough ......from the store owner

            Thanks Keira.
I did not know that they made it in head and cab configuration ? Only know of the combo version. (Mark Knopfler amp ? )

              Thanks Singe.
I use to have one just like this many years ago but sold it to finance something else at the time...have always regretted that .
                a month later

So...the Bassman arrived today, all the way from Pretoria, via De Aar ! ?

Tubed her and all that.....unfortunately it has a hisssss, not loud but irritating enough. Also way too treble with little mids (with my Strat) on all the channels. So Karel will have to sort her out...maybe just a cap/resistor, and/or a crappy valve ?
It's currently at the top of the food chain as you can see ?

                  Problem solved ! I accidentally swopped the AT7 and one 7025 pre-amp tube around during re-tubing. (big mistake ! :-[ )
                  The amp is fine now.
Must say there's is not much of a difference in the sound of this Bassman and my Bandmaster. Apart from being a slightly louder amp (50W vs 40W) the former (perhaps) has a little less clarity than the Bandmaster (?).....but all in all a fine big sounding amp.
I am glad it was a quick fix Vic! Enjoy that badboy.

                      Thanks Reinhard...yes I'm relieved ?
Must add it sounds terrific with a Strat....crystal clear, but with a lotta balls at the same time . Have not overdriven it yet....definately does not break up before 5 with single coils.
