Buy this speaker! A Greenback at R800? ?

If you don't like it you can always sell it, even at a profit. Man....
Hmmm... General consensus is the stock speaker is quite good until you push it (I agree). You have to be careful selecting a speaker for an amp with a modelling front end as the models will be voiced specifically for the speaker and an "upgrade" isn't always that because of it. The usual recommendation as an upgrade is the Eminence Ragin Cajun (available on Take2 for under R1400). Be aware that it will make the amp a fair bit louder though.

Also what impedance is the Champ? I see the Greenback is a 16 Ohm. BTW - Ryan's selling an old pair of Greenbacks for R1500 in the classifieds.
Not to mention you need a 10" for the SCXD and not a 12"
        Thanks for the learned insights.
I am always delighted and honoured when it's the knowledge heavyweights who respond so succintly and accurately to my questions.
I am really delighted with my amp sound and shall leave it as such.
Perhaps the Celestion Greenback needs to find its way into a Gumtree magic deal.
I've been eyeing the Ragin Cajun and have it on a wishlist but I was thinking of putting it in the Laney Cub10 I have. Now that you say it will render the Super Champ louder it has been ordered. So I think I'll take the stock speaker in my SCXD and put that in the Laney.
I'm just going to chime in to say I'm really liking the Super Champ still. The mopre the speaker breaks in the better it sounds as well. Only failing is the 10 vs 12" but you can't have it all.
Channel 1 for gigs but I can spend hours messing around with the leslie emulator alone ?
