Back of neck ding removal?

Hi guys...

I just wondered if there is an easy way to fix small dings (compressions) at the back of my guitar's neck (where my thumb runs around)? Im not sure where they come from, but Ive seen stranger things happen during a gig ?

This is usually done simply by drop filling superglue (the good stuff), sanding flush and buffing up.

Aaah that'll work! I was afraid I would have to sand the whole thing down etc etc etc

I havn't done this before, so I just wanna ask: which superglues do you use? And does most hardware stores sell all the grits paper you need for this? (including the micro grits)

If it is a nitrocellulose finish like Gibson uses, a damp cloth over a soldering iron can be used to steam it out, or so I have read ?

Well its an Ibanez S, so Im guessing its not the same? Im definately not a pro on Gibson (or Ibanez for that matter ? ).

Best source for quality superglue is usually a modelling/radio control shop. Most hardwares have up to 1200 grit water paper. Add some polishing compound and you are away...

Sorry to jump on the wagon sooooo late, but. Does the superglue dry clear? And where do I get the polishing compound? Is there a specific name for it?

The good stuff does, and the thinner the viscosity, the clearer it dries.

Any hardware or auto supply store will have. Polishing or buffing compound (same difference).

Burnishing cream is a very fine polishing compound made specifically for restoring finishes. Some brands actually break down and become finer the longer you buff with them.

I also build model ships and the super glue I use is CA. Cyoacrolate. I am not sure of the spelling. You get two main types; one has the consistency of water and the other of syrup. They dry clear.
If you use it, please use latex gloves, this stuff uses moisture to cure, so if it gets on your skin, let alone sticking your fingers together, it will mean a trip to the doctor ?. You should be able to get it from a good modelling store.

I'm repairing both my babies at once. The Cort's ding repair process started as a re-string. The Crafter's I've been meaning to do for a while. This however means practicing can only be done when filler is semi-dry ☹

I've always found the thicker stuff doesn't dry quite as clear. And I always keep a big bottle of acetone handy because I have an annoying habit of gluing myself to guitars. ?

Don't you want to put up before and after pics please? I'd be curious to see this.
