Can't remember the name of the brand I use :-[ ? but a rule of thumb for any kind of guitar is to loop your lead over your strap button/lock to prevent it from being pulled out too easily or bent too much so that the connections loosen. You should be ok with any decent make of cable, don't fall for Monster Cable nonsense though.

Make up your own! I usually buy Sommer cable and Neutrik jackplugs...or even Amphenol jacks. You can decide how long the cable has to be. It is nice and soft/flexible and will last for years.

When it comes to cables, I am a huge planet waves fan! Their ends are completely closed so that they can't be opened or damaged. Although that sounds kind of risky, their cables have a lifetime guarantee. If you look after it, it'll last you years and years! It costs a bit, but if it's the only cable you buy, it's worth it IMO ?
