I wasn't suggesting he "buy" a guitar purely off his research at Fender.com Bob.
I was referring to one of his first questions....
So Im looking for some advise about buying one. What to look for etc. because there seem to be so many different types of strats/teles with different prices.
As well as .......
Dont forget to answer my question about different kinds of Fenders and the price differences
Going to the Fender website and spending a little time there will at least allow someone to start to see some differences in neck radius, pickups, wood, color, bridge, wiring, fret wire etc etc. Googling the actual model name will bring up prices etc or even going to Sweetwater or Musicians Friend.
I'm not knocking him for asking the question at all. Just wondered why he had not done a little pre-research yet.
And yes......a year ago or so I counted and there were around 52 different models of Stratocaster at the Fender website.......farking ridiculous. back in the day it was one model and several different color choices. I am a Fender Strat man and have been since a very long time........love Gibson's also........but if they find themselves in a shithole because they have spread themselves too far and wide out of greed......then so be it, they brought it on themselves.
That whole Gibson Jimi Hendrix Signature Stratocaster model debacle, really made my blood boil.
Ever once in a while I go in and play guitars in the stores around me....there are two Guitar Center's close and a Sam Ash across the street and up a bit, walking distance from my house. Quality control seems to be a problem at Fender, especially on their guitars under $1100 or so. I can't tell you how many I have played that had shit intonation, saddle adjusters that snagged me on the heel of my hand, horrible actions...even high and still buzzing, loose parts ( my all time piss me off pet peeve, the loose Volume or Tone knob)....missing selector switch knobs, slipping tuners..........it is really disgusting.
I bought a $1700 B-Bender Nashville Tele and within a week the B-Bender was clicking/clucking really loudly. I ended up calling Gene Parsons directly ( he was in The Byrds and invented the B-Bender for guitar player- Clarence White ) and he told me they had been screwing up the installations at Fender. So even though it was only 2 weeks into it's warranty, I sent it to Gene and paid him to completely re-install and set it up as well as doing a long throw option to take it closer to how Clarence White's guitar was set up. It's beauty now. Just to say though.......like has been said before, you really have to play them.
That used Fiesta Red American Strat sounds like it is beautymous!!!
