TJ's Music Club - October 6th

Ta da! Doors open at 19:30. Music kicks off at 20:00. Admission R25. Venue is the main pavilion at the Marks Park club, Judith Road, Emmarentia, Johannesburg. Food and drinks can be ordered from the Marks Park staff.

Sounds good, remember the rules though; you have to introduce yourself to all other GFSA members present and you have to cheer extra loudly for any GFSA members on stage (such as Keira).

Not just on stage. There may well be a call for a show of appreciation for another GFSAer (not me) who will, as always, be working hard on the night.

Alrite...so in order to make my appearance as simple and clear as possible...il be wearing a black hoodie with Jimi Hendrix making a peace sign on the front, ill also be wearing a cap with bright blotches of paint on it...if that doesnt help, jus look for a guy enjoying the music, coz im sure gonna enjoy this evening!!!

The circle marks the drive way. It has a brick surround. A few meters down there is a security boom. Tell the guys there that you are coming to TJ's and they will direct you.

now i just need to decide what i will play ....bulgerian folk music ? a polka medley with songs that only begin with the letter "T" ? mmmmmm choices choices..... ?

looking forward to it ............ and most importantly it gives me an excuse to get there early and browse thru the local music stores in area ....... as i seldom get out that way .who knows i may do my set with a guitar thats some new "find" .... i'm a addict when it comes to shopping for gear and there's some way cool 2nd hand gear stashed in pawn shops in that area

that was meant partially tongue in cheek....... ?

but seriously NO there is never a setlist for my shows.... however i know a lot of music and play what i feel like in the moment ....so nothings totally brand new.... i will know the piece ....just how i play it and when in the show i play it will differ from show to show

so i'll sit down tonight and start with something and then while playing that will decide on the next one ......

so the next time you see my show i may do the same songs...but maybe in different keys and solo's are all improvised so every gig has different solo's and tempo's and feels change with the mood of the night ..........

so above all makes it exciting for me........

but i was teasing re the bulgerian folk music..... i do world music and Jazz so tonights set selection will fall within that ......unless of course i spend the afternoon learning bulgerian folk songs ?

I was just getting excited (but I'm still excited all the same). You might have been kidding but Bulgarian Folk music is actually pretty cool (as is most folk music from the Balkans). I really would have enjoyed some Bulgarian folk, maybe next time ?

Then again, guitar is not a particularly dominant instrument in Bulgarian folk - unless you can mimic that Tambura thing with a guitar (which would be pretty awesome!)

well, i've never seen you play before, except for your demo vid for the guitar you're selling. that was more than enough to whet my appetite, so i'm really, really looking forward to it. to everyone!
