How good are the two Manchester teams looking? I know its early days, but I reckon the only team to challenge them for the title will be Chelsea. Being a United fan I am really enjoying the start to the season - four games, none of which were the easiest on paper and we have scored 18 goals already (Rooney has scored more than every other Premiership team apart from City so far ?). Its a pity that both Welbeck and Cleverley, products of the youth system have sustained injuries just when they're getting a run in the team, but Smalling has been a revlation at right back and Jones is the future captain of the club, possibly also England. Benfica midweek and Chelsea on Sunday... the big games just keep on coming!

Football Manager has stolen plenty of hours of slee (and work!) ? Podolski could be a cracking signing - not too sure how he and RVP will work together next season (if he is still there, that is) as they seem like quite similar players

? you might have a point. But hats off to Pardew, who must be in contention for Manager of the Season. Cisse was a shrewd buy and didn't cost much.

Newcastle seem to have a great scouting network, Cabaye, Cisse, Tiote - all great buys and Ba came on a free too (but they did spend a couple million on Obertan ???) After losing Carol and Nolan, their captain to a championship side, I thought they'd struggle, but Pardew has done a fantastic job

Selling Andy Carroll, a 10m pound (if that) player for 35m has to be the best piece of business this season. Pardew does seem to have a great backroom team finding all these guys too.

How can you even doubt that Newcastle will beat Man City... but then United will lose to Sunderland on the last day and throw it away. Again.

Any opinions here on the whole Neymar spiel? Read an article saying "Mourinho would destroy Neymar's talent".

Do managers really have such an influence on their players?

yeh Neymar is one of those flair players that seem to play best when left to run loose. I do NOT agree that Mourinho would destroy his talent.

Thing with players like that is they tend to shine when the team plays for them. When they have to play for the team, either they get huffy because they think they are being restricted creatively, or they take to it like a duck to water

Mourinho is THE master motivator. Look at what he done for the (no namers of Chelsea when he got there, similarly, he turned average players at porto into superstars, not because they were phenomenal, but because they played for each other and covered eachothers weaknesses.

Neymar, if he isnt full of it, would benefit no end with a coach like Mourinho by becoming a more tactically aware footballer. Much like Ronaldo was groomed under Ferguson.

Talent is there, and with the right moulding, he will explode... much like Ronaldo.

IMO it depends largley on Neymar's humility... my impressions are that he is a bit full of himself, bt if he listens... we could have a serious footballer here

Chelsea... not because I have an inkiling of liking for them, but just because I am thoroughly enjoying hearing all the excuses from my Liverpool mates

I've got a Liverpool buddy that "doesn't get time to watch football anymore". :-\

Next season may be different for Liverpool. Of course there's the risk that they'll flirt with relegation. However it may be a fair season if the previously-rubbish-now-not-too-bad Lucas makes a return. Then they could get away with not have to play the likes of Spearing (aka the Brain).

Arsenal get a massive let off, guess that's what makes this league so entertaining ... the remote took some damage though yesterday when Norwich's 3rd goal flew in :-/

At the other end Villa are all but mathematically safe. Blackburn pretty much gone ... Bolton hanging by a thread. Start of the season I picked Wolves, QPR and Wigan to go down, looks like I'll get 1 out of 3.

i was thinking about this end race this year and woe is man united for that sick swan game.....

just using some maths had the game been 2-1 united would now be ahead due to no of goals scored an both sides would of had the same exact goal difference ......even 3-1 would of given united a shout being -2 goals down to city with evertying to play for...as it is the differcne is 8 goals ...that 6-1 resulted in a 10 GOAL difference between the 2 sides...

anyway , these kind of things flaot in my head .... a whole lot ....brain made for numbers
