I think Mike meant get someone to look for something like a coil wire broken away from the eyelet, or just a break in the outer windings - often you can unwind a few wraps and find the problem and fix without a complete rewind.
I think the best guy to ask is Mike du Toit (near Bergvliet, IIRC) 021 715-3869.
