I could get anything from Fender-like cleans to Marshally crunch to well... that rectifier growl from my dual rec. I could also eq and adjust it to just about anything else I could dream up, so I didn't notice any eq'ing issues that couldn't be adjusted to my liking -truth be told... In fact I found the dual rec to be very versatile to say the least!
Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of rectifiers, I just hate the mid scoop aspect cause it makes them really painful to get to sit well in a mix, I found that the Orange almost solved this issue. That being said though to me the Framus Cobra sounds very similar to a rec, but it seems to have more of the 1,4khz frequency range that I found lacked in the Mesas. Ever since I got my new guitar a good balance of upper and lower mids has become integral to me, so I'm just a little bit on the pedantic side when it comes down to it these days ?
