Hey all

I am wanting to upgrade my accoustic guitar setup, I am looking at these 3 brands but am open to any suggestions aswell, my price bracket is roughly about $1600. I have heard some taylors and they sounded great, guild I don't see much here which is y I'm liking them but haven't had a chance to play, I have heard played some martins too which are pretty cool. Anyone here own or played on guilds before and anyone know who stock so I can try em?
Guild is an FMIC brand (Fender), so Bothner's are the distributors. I haven't seen many here, so I'm not sure which models they import or how many they have in their stores. I did look at their nylons once and was quite impressed in the R10K price range (IIRC, Wizard bought one of those too).
I have a "Made in China" nylon Guild.
With the place of manufacture usually being the subject of great ridicule.
      I love that instrument.
      A lot.
      Period.

thanks fellas, i'll go check out bothners in plumstead to see if they have any there.

Got any Breedloves down there? Also try out some high end Takamines. They can be very good, and usually have pretty good electronics as well.

They have an interesting history of late based on business principles that turned out better for the brand: Fender bought Guild in 1995 and the Tacoma Guitar Company in 2004, and that is where (Tacoma Washington) they have been built up to 2008. Then they bought and moved to Kaman Music Corporation's (Ovation) facilities in New Hartford, Connecticut ever since. I read plenty of their reviews and many agree the best Guilds have been built since then.
I've seen several built in some place by the name of "China". Oh well, maybe that's a suburb of New Hartford ?

I suspect that there are Guilds and there are also Guilds, that some are made in Connecticut and built to a standard, and others are made in China and built to a price.

I had a noodle on one a while back - a dreadnought that was either stained to look like mahogany or WAS all mahogany. Quite nice, but I didn't look inside and read the label or anything.

Was looking at the GAD f40pe on proguitarshop.com, looks like a rad guitar. maybe i should save up a bit more & look at a second hand U.S model. The D55 looks awsome, but look a bit pricey, maybe a D40 will be cool.
