If you are a guitar player, you simply haven't loved until you've gently cradled a good pre-CBS Strat. You've known no happiness like a few stolen moments with a pre-war Martin D-28.

And so it is we bring you Guitarist magazine's definitive list of the 50 guitars you need to play before you die (redux) - the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost of guitar worship. They're in no particular order, and the best news is that price-wise, there's something here for everyone.

Where possible, we've linked through to full, in-depth reviews of each instrument and included more affordable mid-price and budget equivalents for the higher-end and rare vintage models.

Very nice guitars!

Who has had the chance to play those on the list?
Any favourites??
outa that whole lot ... i loved no 2 the '52 tele that would be a must and the ,i forget what number but the 1940's Martin acoustic...would be a dream too ..... the rest don't make the list to play before i die ..........but not on the list i would like to try a 59 tele the one with ash body and top loader bridge for a day ........ and maybe an original nocaster (cos thats serious history the guitars that came out without a name because of the lawsuit on the broadcaster name, which was used on some drum kit at the time i believe so was copywrited ..and so fender continued to build guitars with no name behind the fender logo in that time before they called it a telecaster , same guitar tho ? just no name ) ........... ok thats 4
      22 days later
They forgot an early-mid 80's MIJ Fender '72-re-issue Ash-Body Stratocaster....
        From the list, i've played:

        1. Jem777 - lovely versatile instrument that is also unforgiving at the same time - easily shows the holes in one's playing
        2. Parker Fly - my favourite by far because of the ergonomics, the weight, the access and the piezo
        3. Jackson Soloist - too 1D IMO, but what it does it does very well
        4. Godin ACS - this is a beautiful guitar in the right hands, sadly mine aren't.
        5. Tyler Studio Elite - although the headstock is a bit avant-garde, if i was a Strat guy, it would be a toss up between this one, the Suhr Classic or the Anderson Drop Top Classic. I haven't played the Suhr or the Anderson though.

Some very interesting guitars on the list, but they may have overlooked the Suhr Modern, the Vigier Excalibur and the Musicman JP series.
          I own # 8.......lol.

I like the fact that the 112V is there............I like the pacifier. I've owned 2 on the list and played 8 of them.
