Any underated speakers that I should be looking at?

I'm building my fullstack and after having my fanes checked out, it appears that 1 of them is cooked and 2 others have torn voice coils and I'm looking at over R2000 to have them sorted.

I've been asked to load a set of G12T75's and V30's in a friends cab, but there is no ways that I can spend that type of coin.

I'd like my first build to be an experiment of sorts and I'd like to try some other brands out that are normally not recommended. I was looking at the Mod line from Jensen and have tried a set that was in a behringer 412 and was pretty impressed with the speakers for the sticker price.

The type of music is metal and rock. Will be looking at a 100watt head (SS). Looking at 16/ 8 ohm.

So any input?

I'm even open to buying some second hand gear.

Get your Fanes fixed. I strongly doubt you'll be able to replace them with anything decent for less.

Unless... I got some Chinese-made Celestion knock-offs from Karel Mars a few Years ago for R300 a piece (IIRC), which were surprisingly good. Labelled as G12K-85. Apparently imported by Zakspeed and made by the same factory that makes the Chinese Celestions. I called them my "Celestion Yellows". ? Like the K75s, a little aggressive and harsh with drive, but otherwise amazing for the price.

Celestion is being imported in a limited way by Tradelius in Durban - but experience tells me if they don't have it in stock, don't bother ordering it from overseas as you can wait for ages (regardless of what you are told). Some of the Jensens are available via Fender locally, but at quite a price.

Otherwise, Take 2/Takealot is the best way to get all the names you mention locally. They basically import on demand, so no chance to try before you buy.
