This months challenge was Insane Genres The idea is compose a one minute piece of music in 2 musical genres that don't go together e.g. Acid-Flamenco, Grunge-Jazz, Shred-Blues or Gospel-Punk. Since I realise this is a pretty difficult challenge I am going to allow you to borrow well known covers so long as you totally don't sound anything like the original, Rather like what UB40 did to Johnny B Goode.

And here are the contestants - No categories this time only one vote per member by Sunday 31st

So this entry is a Jazz-Grunge mix. I took a popular Jazz Standard (Summertime) and seriously messed it up (intentionally). The recording itself sounds quite raw as if I played all instruments live in a garage, I can assure you I didnt, and I am not quite sure why my Ableton made it sounds so fat and muddy, but none the less its Grungy as hell!!!
I managed to get mine done just in time. Here it is, the Boere Boogie: http://www.box.net/shared/ozfsc6ptyorcsrozxau9

I'd have to confess though that, it consists of three iterations of which the third contains 5 tracks as opposed to four. I only realised my mistake after I mastered the final version and I just don't have the energy or indeed time to redo it.
Good stuff gents!

V8 - I'm an old grunger, so your entry hit the spot with me. ? The recording sounds like it was done with a cheapie mic hanging from the ceiling of somebodies folk's garage. But if you were into grunge before the movement lost its integrity (to me meaning before every twat and his mate wore a Nirvana t-shirt...), then that fits the music, and what it stood for imo, perfectly. The fact that it's a jazzy song makes it even better. So well done man, really enjoyed it.

Deefstes - Glad I couldn't get my boere-metal idea to work. Your entry would have blown mine away :$ Well done hey. It lost a bit of momentum in the second half, but I stil enjoyed it tremendously.

Crap. I mean Fruitargeek, not V8. Oooops....
