My electric fence works in on my amp and creates a "tick, tick, tick" sound. I've always thought that it just can't be a good thing. Am I right?
The "tick, tick, tick" of the electric fence.
Perhaps you need to set your fence tick to a tempo you use frequently
I have the same problem, but its not a huge problem.. Definitely not a bad thing in the sense that its not going to damage your equipment. It can be rectified by using AC filter caps which aren't conventional in guitar amps.. But thats another story.
I've found, that when it gets particularly wet, my amp starts ticking. I've discovered that the reason is that the fence is very close to a tree in the back garden, and when there's a lot of moisture in the air, it arcs across that small distance to ground. So I'd suggest, take a walk around your fence and have a look for anything strange..

Thanks Alan, seems like there's not much I can do short of turning the fence off every time I play. Luckily it looks like it's not harmful.
Best to fix the fence, lower the potential difference in the interim
