Blonde Vibrolux
Karel-Mars
Hi
I had a chance to look closely at another beauty. Blondes came out just before Black Face amps and had slightly earlier circuit configuration. Here is a rare example of the craft:

What a beauty Karel...looks like an Oxford alnico in there ?
Karel-Mars
I actually do not know. Maybe someone know what speaker this is? There is actually some bad vibration (the type the Beach Boys weren't singing about ?) coming from the speaker. I need to remove the speaker to work out what is going on.

Yes, it's an Oxford 12L6N - the L means it is a 30W speaker. A decent speaker until they made some changes in '66 - so this will be one of the better ones, although a Jensen or decent modern speaker will still be an upgrade.
Exactly the same amp Mark Knopfler used on
Sultans of Swing
, BTW

Awesome stuff Karel! I'll bet that Amperex GZ34 is still the original. Good luck with the speaker. I hope it's only cab lint in there ?
EDIT: Strange mark on the one 6L6... Has the tube cooked or is that just a weird place for getter flash?
Karel-Mars
Thanks Greame
The tubes seems to be more or less OK. It is the getter that you see on the side. It seems to be common with RCA 6L6GC's.
