See if it works as well with an Acoustic. Mine jumps around a bit and gets a bit confused on the 5th string.
With my electrics it is 100%
Turn down the treble slider/ knob on your guitar's preamp while tuning and you shouldn't have a problem. Cuts down on extra harmonics in the signal and gives the tuner a simpler signal to latch onto.

And possible try hit a 12th fret harmonic as well? Supposedly that can help.
Keen to test out a Turbo Tuner.. Might FINALLY pull the trigger on a tuner then ?

@Alan - have you received your Tech 21 Blonde yet?
If so, what are your impressions - I am going to order a few things from US soon and was looking to include one of these.
@Mike - I find playing is more interesting without a tuner, YBnormal?

In short, go for it! ?
Happily using mine into both PA and nearfield monitors - so much so I'm wondering if I shouldn't get a second one to set up the two as a two channel amp. Very flexible, with a surprising range of both tones and gain and does the "on the edge" thing well. They now have a speaker sim bypass too (while PGS still shows the pics for the older one, they are selling the new version).

Ok, I am about to confirm my order and would love to hear if I have made any bad choices.
Of course some I have managed to hear live, but very few and others from reputation and YouTube. A bit risky but no real choice I am afraid
I will be using the following guitars: Tokai ES155 (335 type), Tele and Strat (both with noiseless Pups)
1) Volume Pedal - Visual Sound Visual Volume
2) Compressor - I was looking at the Barber Tone Press and Keeley but settled on the Rothwell Love Squeeze.
3) Overdrive - I wanted to get something that would gve me something different to the Ashtone Audio TS808 Mod, so I have decided on the Wampler Paisley Drive4) Delay - I am looking at something simple but great sounding (not a looper) and settled on the TC Electronics Flashback Decay
4) Direct Sim - Tech 21 Character Series Blonde
5) I am considering the Xotic EP Booster as well.
still undecided: Chorus and Wah/Envelope Filter
Thoughts, criticisms, suggestions?

All looks good. Don't know the Paisley at all, but the Wampler pedals have a good rep and the Paisley looks interesting (I'm checking out some vids now). The EP boost... I don't know if you'll even need it - why not wait and see what you get with the other pedals first and then decide where you want/need to go from there?
MikeM
Cool selections ? Personally not mad about the Tech 21 stuff.. Used one of their amp sims, running through a blues jr, was not for me. But the Visual Vol, Rothwell and TC are great pedals!

Thx Alan - you're correct, I think I'll do that. I will also be leaving out a Reverb for now untl I decide on an amp. I was considering the Barber LTD and Keeley Lunar OD as well but settled on the Wampler after seeing a few vids.
@Mike - I hear you but I am still considering whether I get the Tech 21 or a simple HD300 for live use and maybe a smaller amp just for home use. The key is portablity at present as I don't want to carry an Acoustic, associated gear for that, an electric AND an amp as well for what is mostly a 30min performance (exluding practice...)
MikeM
How much of a price difference is there between the Tech 21 and HD300? ?
racman
Should be roughly half the price when landed Mike
MikeM
Did you watch the vid Tokai SA posted, of PJH testing the HD? It's quite impressive and very versatile.
Imo far better value for money there. Really worth trying out!
racman
Yeh, checked it out and will be trying out the HD300 this week to see if it's limitations effect my requirements. Although to some it may be a waste, I still want to slowly build up a pedal board but an HD makes sense from a portability point of view. HD 500 s way too bg for me...
MikeM
Agreed 100%
Keen to hear your findings!

It's worth noting that the character series now have a defeat button for the speaker sim, so they work better into amps.
I considered getting an HD to DI the pedalboard, but ultimately size was the deciding point, so the blonde won out.
racman
I must admit I still just prefer the simplicity of pedals to Multi FX.
@Alan - would one run the Blonde straight to PA or via a DI as well?
AlanRatcliffe
I'm running straight to desk or into my volume pedal, then TimeFactor and to desk. More than enough juice to run line level, and the only reason I'd use a DI would be to get a balanced signal for plugging straight into a snake.
Another nice thing about it is being able to put effects like delay and reverb after the amp sim. Stereo too, when needed. ?
racman
Thx Alan, I will running into a snake then about 20-30m run to the desk. Any suggestions for good quality DI box?
Mr-M
Radial JDI. Nothing is more rugged and nothing made for live use sounds better or is quieter.
AlanRatcliffe
+1 to the Radial JDI.

Who imports or stocks Radial n SA?
