Everything i could want to say about this annoying practice has been said.
Most people are not in agreement with discounts!
And the arguments for discounts are not convincing anyone!
when the american street (not retail) price is still half or more than half of the price of the same product here, THAT should be enough to devalue the item here!
And at least give a true indication of what its true worth is.
so those inflated RRP's... yes, we ALL know the RRP is inflated, does not sit well with us.
And if only the general public would wise up... slowly but surely, they are!
Then they'll never buy from an SA music shop! only overseas!

This is why we are smelling fish because of the discounting practice... don't tell me as your customer what I should be feeling... understand what my needs and wants are... this is the basis of a sound marketing model.
Maybe the dissidents here are being more vociferous, but it is pretty evident that a big chunk of them don't like the discounting practice. Perhaps it's time that the industry did qualitative market research to find out what the market is really feeling, because at the moment the status quo does not bode well for the image of the industry.
I want to state that I do not begrudge any business earning a profit, after all that's what business is all about, but I respectfully ask the industry to listen to us, your customers.
Again, no one minds profits... but not unethical profits!
the RRP of things IS so high here. anyone buying at that price is being exploited, and the profit from that, unethical / immoral.
