At my advanced age I am increasingly having a problem with reading the display on tuners. I have a little Roland that works well but is almost impossible to read on the floor. I am not convinced that a Petersen will solve this problem either.
There are those handy little "stick on" tuners, but they usually only work for a standard tuning. I sometimes use drop-D, and occasionally experiment with other tunings, so I'd like something chromatic and with a big, easily read display.
Well I found a solutuion. A handy little tuner made by a company named "Cherub". It clips onto the headstock. It's backlit. It has modes for guitar, bass and violin as well as a chromatic mode. It shows the note that you're tuned to, and the backlighting changes colour - green for in tune, orange for flat, red for sharp.
The display is big enough that I can read it at that distance. It's very handy for quickly checking your tuning on stage in between songs - especially with the colour feature. Because it works on body vibrations you can have the pickup turned down or muted at the desk.
Because of the size it's a little fiddly to get at all the features, but for a quick check in between songs it works very well.
Price R139. Very nice.
