WHo repairs MEsa Boogie gear in South Africa?

I've got an imported Triaxis that needs some attention ☹
Marshall Music are the importers/distributors, so they will have someone they use. It's not a warrantee repair though, so I'd look for someone reputable in Durban.
I do have a reliable amp tech but this being a (uncommon) rack unit Im just concerned he wont know enough about it to fix it properly?
Ask him. If he's a decent tech he'll know if it's something he can do or not or at worst at least take a look at to see if he can do anything. The majority of problems will be the valves themselves, and even when not, funny joints from heat or loose connections are most common and any tech can sort them out. In the event it's something only a Mesa tech can sort out, he should tell you so.
Still something any decent tech can do. In fact if it's just an opto that needs changing, it's a simple job. If it were me, I'd probably try bypassing it and if that worked, I'd replace it myself - but a qualified tech would also make sure that there isn't another issue that caused the opto to fail.

The Vactec VTL5C9 is out of production, but still available: http://www.banzaimusic.com/Vactec-VTL5C9.html
Bill Lange is the Mesa amp tech in SAfrica...."Mutt" Lange's brother.

Marshall Music Woodmead, ask them for Bill's phone number.
It does not take a rocket scientist to replace a vactrol... Just a lot of patience in importing new ones.
Before reading the thread you linked to, my initial thoughts were also that it should be simple to diagnose since the whole mode has its own pcb. It should be ten minutes work to check if it is the vactrols.

Ps you don't absolutely need a Mesa tech, the schematic is available on www.tubefreak.com

Said qualified tech would do well to first look up the Triaxis vactrol control patent - essentially they make sure of the resistor value by the use of negative feedback loop. It takes a while to figure it out without reading this patent ?
The approved Mesa/Boogie amp tech in Cape Town is Zenon George - c/o Marshall Music Cape Town CBD branch (021) 426 6325 - as Alan stated.
Since he owns a Triaxis & various other Mesa/valve preamps/amps/gear he should easily sort you out.

The question is: "Who's closer/cheaper for you to courier to - JHB or CT?"
What´s the serial on your unit? The schematic differs substantially between v2.0 and v2.1 and the difference is in the Recto board.
Nothing wrong with couriering it to CT/JHB, except for the downside of having to courier it. Maybe it does outweigh the downside of not getting ´only the best´ for your precious Triaxis... precious... my precious...

Ok I am FINALLY getting around to repairing this.. I've been using LD2 modes all this time, but I am missing LD1 Red greatly..

Is there any chance I could skype chat or call anyone to assist me in possibly doing this repair myself? It would just be cool to talk through some of what I need to do..
(I consider myself technically proficient, but Im sure a qualified tech would call me a backyard hacker. Bottom line is I prefer working on my gear myself if at all possible)

I am willing to pay for your time as well, Alan, Gearhead? Anyone else?
