Yes,asked a girl out and she said she had a bf. Kinda made my saturday so bad. So I grabbed my guitar and just played it. Sigh . No I did not play any soft songs but hard thrash. Nothing cheers you up to the sounds of slayer :-[

I generally don't have issues with talking to girls, it's getting a conversation started that's always the initial problem, just cause you don't wanna come across as a stalkerish freak I guess ? If things are gonna work out then just getting her to a point where you can start talking should be the only "hard" step. In times like these if an opportunity to buy her a drink or be introduced through a mutual friend isn't present I like to go with the line "Hey, didn't we go to different schools together?" Most of the time this will both entertain and confuse them ? Then it's up to you to make the most of the window of opportunity ?

I've had some...interesting relationships in my time, and I'm only 32. ? Just be yourself, be ok with being alone and whatever angst you're feeling - shove it into your music. If you meet some girl you don't know and she looks interesting, just go say "Hi!" and forgo all the one liners (although Brent's is kind of hilarious). If she likes you back it will sort itself out. If she doesn't, well, you can try again some other time. ?

When I was younger I desperately, desperately wanted girls to like me. I went through all kinds of exhibitionist displays to just get them to look at me. And it sabotaged all my efforts. Once I started to become comfortable just being myself, things began to work out a lot better!

He walks ups to her ... says something (never found out what) ... and she slaps him.

He comes back.
I expect him to be mortified.

I'd imagine its cause you might find the first girl you hand it to isn't what ur looking for

From my experience (not that i have much), here are a few things that have worked in the past for me:

1. Happiness/Security in who you are = Self-confidence = Attraction
2. Start the conversation with the idea of getting to know the woman (instead of getting in her pants, even if that's where you want to go).
NB - Don't start your conversation with a pick-up line. If she says she's got a BF, then say you were just looking for interesting talk, not a girlfriend. As soon as she establishes that you are not a threat, you've got your foot in the doorway. Ambush 'em!
3. Find the common denominator asap.
3. Pay attention.
4. Don't come across as desperate - See point number 1.
5. Do not try to be funny in an entertaining way - I.e. no jokes you picked up from FHM etc.
5. Seal the deal - Show interest in continuing your conversation over drinks/coffee/dinner (home-cooked dinner?? even better), but don't be pushy.
6. Leave before she gets bored - Don't give it all away in your first approach.

I know this looks a lot like a sales cycle, but you might get some results.
Remember, the guys who have the pretty women are either rich, good-looking, famous or intelligent.
