Hi Everyone!
I need to get a new guitar amp, my choices are:
Roland Cube 15x- R1495
Vox AC15C1- R1200

The kind of music I play are all types of rock and also metal.
Which amp would you recommend? I haven't played on either but I intend to do so soon.
Also, I have seen the Roland Cube 20x which retails for about R2000 at my local music store.
I'm only interested in it for the extra effects and tuner, are they worth the extra cash? I am still
a beginner.

All help appreciated!

You sure its a Vox AC15 ....if it is for that price you grab it ..... but i suspect its prbably a pathfinder 15 ...in that case go wit hthe roland

For high gain stuff I too would go with the roland

I would always go for whichever amp has the biggest speaker - so I would take the 10" over the 8" any day. But if you are after a specific feature such as built in tuner/effects then go for it!

I still think a roland cube is the best for beginners, especially when you dont really know what you want yet because they can do so many (vastly) different sounds/styles

But the Roland Cube is solid state and a great beginners amp while the Vox AC15 is an iconic all tube amp used by pros and usually goes for A LOT more than that! :O I second IceCreamMan, are you sure its an AC15? That price seems too good to be true...
I own a Roland Cube 20x and it's a good little practice amp. It has plenty of volume and a cool little feature called power squeezer. Basically it lowers the volume of the amp but not the intensity of the sound, so you can keep your distortion pretty heavy at low volumes. It does sound a bit muddy when that feature is on I must say.

The on board effects and models are all good, obviously not as tweak-able as if you had a separate pedal for each effect, but for the price it is well worth it, especially if you like metal and that type of thing. The tuner works as well, so I would say go for it.

I have had the roland and its a nice amp , takes pedals pretty well , just found the power squeeze dull .
              4 months later
I have seen/heard my teacher Tom Hess play on the Roland amps and those amps sound killer for such a small little amp!
I am not to familiar with the vox (so I wont/cant really compare :-[), but I have a roland cube 30 which I am quite pleased with.
If its a Vox ac15 (legit) then that will eat that little rolands head off....

but at that price it wont be a vox ac15..... it will be a pathfinder or some other solid state amp... in that case go with your ears and see which is less brittle
