Marshall JCM 600

I've got my eye on a Marshall JCM 600 full valve combo. 2 x12" Celestion speakers. 100 watt.
Good nick.

Do you guys know them and what would it be worth?

I've got that very one. Although methinks its 60W not 100W.

Clean channel is quite nice for a Marshall, decent head room. Takes pedals pretty well I reckon. The drive channel is not really my thing, even with the gain right down its a bit too heavy for me so I use it for soloing only as its got separate reverb and volume (obviously), so I run with no reverb on the clean and the reverb right up on the drive. Its loud enough for my application, I run the master at about 2 o'clock and the clean volume at about 11 o'clock which gives some great punch.

Its in for repair right now (dry joint) and I've heard others have had issues with them, but many peeps fit fans to aid cooling which apparently helps.

I got mine in a swap deal for a Boss GT-10 + R1k. So my guess is they're worth about R4k - R5k.

I gather they are not built anymore, what would an equivalent amp cost?

Don't bother around with a 600... Check out my JCM 900 2x12 100W in perfect condition in the Classifieds! R4500... It is a steal!

I think its a great amp, especially if you crank it. They haven't been built since the late 90's I think. The JCM900 is from what I've read a more modern sounding amp compared to the 600. The 600 being more classic rock, but my experience is there's plenty of modern sounding crunch on the 600 drive channel.
