With a trem, hose types of Trems are what you would call floating trems and they lock on the trem ad at the nut. This means that to change tuning, you would need to unlock the nut, tune, adjust the trem to float level, then lock it all up again.
Sounds simple? not really, if you tune 1 string on a floyd, it throws the balance out on the rest of the trem and you end up having to tune everything.. Just a mission if you change tuning a lot.
With a hardtail, its MUCH quicker and MUCH easier.
