Meet n greet n get togethers in Gauteng?

Sooo... After meeting a few guys for the first time, i was wondering if there were ever any get togethers where everyone gets together? Instead of just one or two guys, a whole bunch?

Gee, I didnt understand it as late as in passed on. I just assumed that he'd buggered off because him and ol' Bob hang a bit you know. Now, I think that this is umbrage for the sake of it. I've seen guys using the term concentration camps and getting shat on. And also some months back someone used the word rape in a completely innocent context and also get shat on. Dont collapse in a heap guys.

I'm barely on the forum during the daytime at all . I only generally log on after 5.30 - 6 p.m. during the week.
So , I miss lots of the banter and posts that take place during the day .

So , anyway , I see Strats recent posts as "guest" and notice no activity from him at all . So I enquire from a few daytime forumites who mention that he has in fact left the forum and that he has had himself de-registered as a member....for whatever reasons ... Then on Friday afternoon I see XRBs' "late" comment and then think something dreadful has happened to him . So I phone Aubs to enquire if anythings happened to Strat . Thankfully all is good and he's alive and well.

Hence my objection to the "late" comment ,.... which I still think is out of place and uncalled for btw. Simply coz not all GFSAers are logged on all the time and some who dont frequent the forum as much as others may assume the worst from suddenly seeing a comment like that in a random post , as happened to me ☹

A meet and greet is a cool Idea for GFSA'ers in JHB. A suiteable venue may in fact be Tanz Cafe where some of the ~~PWV~~ , Gauteng based GFSA bands can use the opportunity to perform for us and display their talent one evening . I'd be prepared to pay 50 bucks at the door to be there , as I'm sure others would too 8)

The only problem with Tanz Cafe, is that we wouldn't hear each other at all, when I met Joel there it was pretty difficult to hear a thing.
A good venue if you are watching live music though.

Another X-stock type thing would be good, Some music, some teaching, Braai and some good local brews.

I'm also up for another meet and greet, I attended the Harties get together with Norio and Startisfear. Was lots of fun and you learn so much from others. Would prefer it on a Saturday.

I would have offered my place, but I don't see too many folk making the trip from Joburg to Sasolburg ???

Welllllll.... We rent a church hall for our dance studio... So as long as we dont make too much noise and keep it in the day... Its large (around 300m2), has a stage, braai facilities...

so if there is interest, we can do it!
Just dont expect me to play anything, i suck! ?
Its to hear everyone else play!!! ?

There have been succesful get togethers in the past, even in Gauteng.

They all have one thing in common - somebody took control. Stratisfear in the case of the first Gauteng get together, Gearhead for the setup workshops, Graeme for the various Graemestocks and so on.

What's required is for somebody to make the first moves. Decide on a venue and a date. Tell people what to bring and so on.

If that doesn't happen all that will happen is everybody will agree that it's a nice idea.

So somebody grasp the nettle and start putting some pegs in the sand. Then the decision making process for the rest of us gets easy.
