Guys, comparing this to an Orange TT Combo, what would the verdict be?
O awesome. Indeed perhaps the perfect little amp now...

            I have a TT combo with 12 ' celestion.

Would depend what you want to use it for , if you were looking at practice at home only then the blackstar is the way forward as the ORange would be overkill. If you were looking at gigging without PA then the TT would be the choice.

The TT combo is awesome for what it was designed for but its not really a practice at home amp..it wants gain and volume to deliver its sweet spot.

That TT has some big bass... After trying out the tonebone through it I thought to myself "my single coil knimans would rip through tha thing!"

Would love to dime it, always get the impression theres a bit of rottweiler underneath there just waiting to jump out and chomp you in the ass.

Came across as a VERY ballsy amp...
Well we going to the UK in about a months time, thus I need to buy new gear and have been looking at the Orange Dual Terror or the new Dark Terror (Evil/Black whatever) and a decent Orange cab, but now that ive seen this.

How will this HT5R Mini Stack match up to the TT? Blackstar uses their own speakers and Orange use Celestions. Would the HT5R Ministack be a good buy?

Yes. Absolutely. However, as always, go and play them both to see what you like. They're very different amps. The Orange will be very loud and living in close proximity in to people in the UK will prob mean you need to keep volumes down. That means that even the HT5 may get a bit too loud to drive properly (You really need to put the volume on at least 5 to get it to sound best). The orange will be at a distinct disadvantage in a scenario like this. But let your ears and heart decide.
One thing that the Blackstar has in terms of a pro is the output could go straight into my recording rig and I could listen to that on low volume whilst the amp is on the "apeshit" setting/volume/gain.

Quality wise? I love Orange and its going to be hard moving to another brand.

The emulated output skips the power amp, so you won't get the power tubes' crunch in the sound. It does sound quite good though. Quality wise, my HT5 is superb quality. I really cannot complain about the way it was built. Very solid, well built amp.
Thanx for all the advice, its appreciated

EZ, correct me if I'm wrong, but the new HT-5 should be available at Marshalls in about 6 months time...

Damn... Who wants to wait 6 months for something ???
Or is it only being released then?

They told me thats more or less when the shipment will arrive in sunny Souf Efrica.
Aggenee man... If time is money, its cheaper to fly to the uk, buy the amp and fly back with it!
And then people wonder why guys import things on their own!!
No ways i would wait 6 months if i wanted it!
That, or i'd end up buying something else! :-\
