I can get one of these at a pretty good price. Well, a lot cheaper than I've seen available in SA although I'm still going to scout around a bit more. Only problem is it's USA and so 110V. Now, I've heard it said that 220 V transformers for these should be quite easy to come by. Also heard mention that Hammond transformers may be the way to go. But you know, it's just something that I want and if I cant get one as inexpensively locally I'll just go ahead and buy it. Where the heck would I find the 220V transformer though? And is it just a case of whippining the old one out and slapping the new one in and screwing everything back together again? I'm really not in the mood to go and do a whole lot of research and all. So, if anyone knows these things and wouldnt mind telling me some I'll be grateful.

Personally I am a fan of Classic Tone transformers. Good prices, good quality, on spec and you can get a direct replacement.
It should be a straight forward swap, but I don't know how the pcb's on these are. I think wait for Graeme or Matta to comment, but it should still not be more than 15 wires that need to be resoldered. If you struggle with it, I am sure a few forum members will be willing to help you.

What is wrong with the original transformer? If it's burned out, rewinding is a neat and cost effective solution. I have had quite a few 120V transformers rewound for 230V and never had any problems. Most transformer manufacturers offer this service.

Well, it is brand spanking new. But I really didnt know that could be done. So I am wondering that there are probably other things I dont know either. Would that be the only bit that would need replacing/reworking in order to get the amp OK for my wall socket? In the meantime I will scout around for some of these transformer manufacturers.

You can use a 220V-110V stepdown transformer too. But changing it is always best. Hammond, Heyboer, Mercury Magnetics are all good reputable brands that have off-the-shelf replacements for a Deluxe.
I'd also speak to Karel Mars and get a quote on rewinding the primary of the existing xformer. That may well be a viable option.

+1 on getting it rewound from Karel. Matta had his Bandmaster's transformer rewound. He does great work. Definitely a viable option.
