Hi gang,
I have come to the realization that my two electrics offer way too much distraction for me to learn to play properly. I am forever fiddling around with fx and shit while neglecting the basics. I cant even chord properly yet!
I reckon the 'purity of purpose' of an accoustic is what the doctor ordered. Something cheap but good to get me started. Steel strings and maybe a thinner neck to mimic the electrics. Ultimately I am an electric man but I need something to work the basics without getting distracted.
Ta!
I would say that you shouldn't need a new guitar, just adjust the way you practice and be sure to set little goals of what needs to be achieved. If you like to fiddle on the fx stuff set out a time for that like 30 mins each day and get that out of the way to do some quality practice as well.
That being said, there is some nice Ibanez acoustics for a very good price available everywhere and the have smaller bodies for increased comfort. Tanglewood guitars also is very nice!
