Yes exactly, ? I'm kinda jealous that I can't try the D-Activators. I have EMG's in my 7 which are better than the stock active in my 8, but it's just not the same as passive. I actually ordered a Lace 6 string bass alumitone, which was a direct replacement for my 8. Got it off guitarcenter.com, R900 or so and 5 days later I was installing it. I really love the sound, much better than the active. I even considered winding my own pickups. It's apparently quite easy. If you're planning building your own 8, I doubt you'd have any trouble with the pups. You could also get a custom pickup wound from Siggery guitars in the uk or a chap known as oni is Australia. Both make awesome looking guitars and I believe Siggery is quite reasonable price wise. Oni's are beautiful but the ~$4000 price tag on top of the 6-8 month waiting period, they're not exactly plentiful. ?
Do you play Djent? More After the burial style is my guess. (argh, I feel like such a scene kid saying djent) ?
I'm losing track of these threads! I mentioned in the other one, I'm in JHB. So if you're ever up here drop me an email and I'll be happy to hook up for a jam.
Well hey when I get my pickups changed if I ever end up on your side of the country I'll be sure to let you know so you can try them out. I'd be interested to know what a Alumitone sounds like, I've been looking at them in wonderment for a while now, also Q-Tuners. I know about Siggery and Oni, I'd probably look at Nordstrand, BKP or Lundgren for a fanned fret pickup though, I don't know why but I just don't trust guitar companies to make pickups...
I don't really play djent as such, I'm in a prog band so I get to do everything from Djent to Bosa-Nova ?
