P.S. Do you have the stock 808's in there? or the 808x's? or Blackouts? How do you like them? I know a lot of people seem to prefer the Seymour Duncan Blackouts to the EMG's.
I have the 808's, they sound like ass...
I'd prefer the 808X's for the headroom but if I'm gonna buy new pickups for her then they're not gonna be EMGs...
The Blackouts are nice except I've found them to be a little higher output than I've ever favoured, my neighbour has an Agile Intrepid 727 with Blackouts and that thing is super powerful.
I'd like to get the new Dimarzio passive 8 string pickups, the D-Activator 8, cause in general I just prefer passive pickups (Dimarzio mainly) and I can't justify BKPs ?
It's awesome that you have a multi-scale, I've been dying to give one a try lately, even considering building my own 8 string (27,5 - 25,5). My biggest concern with fanned fretting though is where to get the pickups from, I've seen alot of people use EMGs but as I stated earlier, I hate active pickups ?
Yeah the whole djent appearing in S.A thing is really cool, seeing as normally we're 3 years behind the rest of the world, but I think the internet is helping with regards to keeping the world on the same page ? I don't know where you're from but in Cape Town I know quite a few people who love the style ?
Also I have to whole heartedly agree on your point about 6s, I just don't see a use for them anymore. If it's not a 7 string it actually looks kinda weird to me, and if I have to play it I just feel like I'm not playing a real instrument. Even Teles with the enormous baseball bat necks feel tiny to me now, heck coming off my 8 onto my 7 makes my 7 feel dinky. I get that some people are cool on 6s but to me they're just awkward ?
