JCM600 diode clipping mod

Just a quick one to all the JCM600 users out there. Has anyone removed the diode clipping in the drive channel? Anybody got opinions about how it sounds with the diode clipping removed?

Sending the amp in for repair so it would be the ideal time to have the mod done.

Hey Brad, sorry this is off topic, but are you sending it to Dennis? Let me know how it goes and how much it costs for the repair, I wanna send an amp in for repairs some time ?

Not done it, but it would make sense to have a switch for the diodes, so you can flip between diode clipping and bypassed.

Good idea! Would depend on how accessible that section of the PCB is I suppose.

Becomes my problem when he charges me an extra R400 to put the switch in ☹
