Hey there all
I have a friend who's amp has broken, wondering if any of you could point me(us(him)) in the right direction, maybe its something simple an home fixeable. He has a Marshall MG100dfx
The story: He came to my place last saturday for a bit of a jam session, an then packed up all his stuff in the car. He hadn't removed it till yesterday (I assume the bumping around his car is the cause, or the heat).
The symptoms: His amp lights up as if everything is working, fan comes on and it hums quietly, as usual. But when the guitar is played, no sound comes out. I've told him to check his cables, check the jack in his guitar, an when he comes over tomorrow we're gonna plug my guitar an cable in to see if that works. I also told him to check that the speaker in the back was plugged in....
Any idea's?
Failing that, anyone know a decent amp techie in edenvale?

Plug a cable into the send and return jack sockets - often the switches in the jacks go funny, and this will bypass the problem. If that works, then you just need to replace the jack sockets (sometime cleaning will work).

Oh yeah - Check the Fan. Sometimes the fans fail and the amp overheats and dies. You'd have to get that fixed by a tech though.

Hey Alan
Thanks for the advice, he did check the fan, an that seems to be good. He's comin over later, so we'll give your jack advice a shot.
If that doesn't work.. I suppose its back to acoustic jammin ☹
Hehe, thanks alot
