This crosses a line which there's no reason to cross. Leave the brands of others to them. Part of the supposed kick of owning the branded product is the weird mystique of it having passed through the hallowed hands of that company's chinese contractors. Leave them well enough alone.

There are more than enough guitar players who are not interested in carrying brand advertising on their straps when they're not paid to. They'll buy your straps. I'm one of the many people who won't buy a good strap if it has advertising on it. And if it's custom made, where's the joy in getting a logo that you can get in the shops?

I would rather personalize the straps....... there are people who would go for putting their own names, or their bands' name on the strap, like what you've done... much safer .....

I agree. I want a nice brown one for the R9 and a black one for the Studio.

I'd think there's a market for straps that are pre-fabricated to suit acoustic guitars with a jack plug in the end pin. The off-the-shelf stuff you can get at the moment doesn't work for those guitars. Hole needs to be bigger (at one end) and the leather/whatever at that end shouldn't be too thick.

firstly great idea, making personalised or custom design straps.... sure just this community would support your designs

just a thought to add to your design idea's .......... every 'leather strap " i have ever owned ....... has been thick/bulky and pretty heavy" and are a bitch to roll up .....

cos i know it's prob only a small percentage of us but , us who travel with our gear and need to pack it on a daily basis, actually think about transporting it.... and if it's too thick it does not close into the guitar cases which are pretty snug designs these days ...... and they don't roll up so can't be shoved into a small empty space in the cutaway and if they have buckles ect on them that will scratch the guitars finish .....

so as a result the beautiful engraved straps i do have lie at home while i keep a lightweight and rollable nylon mesh one with me in my gig bag

so try and make a line that is beautiful....... as leather is ...but still light and thin enough to be practical to use on the road .... and fit into modern snug designed moulded cases..... ( damn i still remember those old rectangular wooden /tweed covered fender cases where one could fit a bottle of whiskey in them ?)

I bought a couple of new straps on the weekend. They're leather, but quite thin - 2mm at the most. Easier to stow, a little more flexible out of the box and easier to fit around those pesky acoustic guitar strap pins.

The super thick leather looks good and creates an initial impression of value for your money etc etc BUT they're not that practical.

If your name is Keef and you have lots of roadies and a trucking company to move your kit then they probably do the job, but for mere mortals...

Definitly this! Everytime I find a strap that's thick and comfy enough it can never be adjusted to sit where I like it...Levy's is a major perpetrator of the down to knees length straps and it's a major shame cause their leather straps are nice ? You gotta remember that there are some players, who even play metal, who like to wear their guitars just under their chins like a musical medallion ?

I've had to modify every strap that I have used with my bass. I like playing it high up like a musical medallion (Thanks Chad ?). I like the dip in the top contour to cup my right pec nicely and the horn to go a little over my left nipple. So each one I've had to shorten. The canvas one was easy, I just sewed it, but as for my leather one, I had to take it in to get shortened. Even now, since I got a different bass, I would like it a bit higher, but that would mean more customization... I can live with it the way it is though.

Also, I like a thick and wide strap cause my bass is quite heavy.

What's so weird about so many leather straps is where their shortest settings. I get that one or two players want their guitar slung like Jimmy Page. So sure, the strap might extend out to that length. But I'm above average height, and wear my guitar pretty low (except for slide which needs the guitar higher up). So how does it work that on its shortest adjustment the guitar almost hangs too low me; where palm muting the bass strings while finger picking is actually uncomfortable. I'd expect that to be where it would be in the last 1/3 of its length - so that the true low-slingers could have the guitar near their knees (unless they're like 6'8") while the medallion wearers would have no trouble setting it against their chin in the first 1/3 of adjustment.

It's very weird. Someone who did like to wear their guitar high, or even medium, or was average height or below, would find the thing totally unworkable. And it's not the first I've encountered like that.

It's like thousands of straps are being made for the 5% of guitar players who are both over 6' and wear their guitars around their knees.

On another note: wide leather straps FTW with heavy guitars like LPs. Makes all the difference in the world.

Just another word of caution, on the issue of copyrighting; The font you've used there looks familiar. I know it's the one you've used in the past but I'm pretty sure I've seen it on some free fonts website. These fonts are usually downloadable with the proviso that they are free for personal use but not for commercial use. You might want to make sure about that one. But didn't you say you were going to do away with that font anyway?'

I can't wait to see your new logo on a strap ?
