  • The Flame(s) Reunion ..... 2011

Well, a few weeks ago I would not have put R10 on a bet that this was gonna happen (1000 apologies Don)...... however, I now have it from a reliable source that Ricky Fataar, currently with Bonnie Raitt, and Blondie Chaplin (backing vocals, guitar, percussion, etc with The Rolling Stones), are in the country, rehearsing with Steve Fataar for a gig in Cape Town, Saturday, 25th March.

The last time I saw these guys was when we toured with, and opened for them on their final "See The Light" tour of the RSA and what was then Rhodesia .......

Here are some of my favourite songs they did.... almost Beatles-like ......

I like the fact that I'm NOT a reliable source... ?

Steve told me about this when they were negotiating it.
Thanks for the info Aubs...but that's Saturday coming ! ? Where will they be ?

You're right....veeery Beatle like, especially in See the light.....the ol' Gretsch Country Gent can be clearly heard ? Wonderful

But there were more flames, and more Fataars than that. Some years ago I saw Roger Lucey's band "Bruin Child", that had Steve Fataar on guitar and, IIRC, "Izzy" Fataar on bass. For a couple of numbers the Fataars swopped roles and Izzy proved himself to be pretty good with 6 strings as well.

You're right Bob...... "Brother" Fataar, (the Bass player) died in Amsterdam not too long after they split. For this gig, I believe they're using a stand-in guy, from Durbs. I think Don may know who will be filling in on bass.
oooo im excited, wanna see ticket prices for Durban ?

OK... I saw this lot about '77 or so. Some time after the split. So maybe another family member?
