Just found this site and joined it today.
My name is Andrew Kroeger..uhh...I'm 16 years old and..whoo, jeez...I've been playing guitar for 6 years now. (Walks away sobbing quietly to himself while other members of Guitar Obsessives Anonymous drone the words "Welcome Andrew.")
Anyway, I play the guitar in my sig and it's a real beauty. I've got it running through a Boss Metal Zone (MT-2) into a Marshall MG30DFX, which I have just the smallest amount of delay on for a bit of presence. My musical styles and influences are mostly classical, punk, ska and \m/ METAL \m/.
I am a bit (very) biased when it comes to gear, admittedly. You might find that the words "fanboy" and "stubborn" come to mind when reading my advice on gear. For instance...
Seymour Duncan makes the best pickups in the world, no exceptions.
Cort makes the best guitars in the world, no exceptions.
D'addario makes the best strings in the world, no exceptions.
I recommend a fixed bridge to anyone and everyone.
Inlays are overrated.
Floyd Rose tremolos are overrated.
Funny shaped guitars (V, X etc.) are overrated.
My guitar is just better than yours, no exceptions.
Seriously though, I give my downright, honest opinion wherever I can. Some may mistake it for trolling, but it's not. I promise.
Thanks for reading. Love you all.

Welcome. Glad to see another Seymour fan. Disappointed to see he's ignorant ?
You seem pretty well informed, except about your amp and pedal. But don't worry, soon enough you'll be gassing for something nicer ?
Squidofsymphony
I think the MT-2 is a greatly misunderstood pedal. The 6 band EQ can be confusing to some and you have to calibrate yourself to the pedal before you can calibrate the pedal to suit your taste. For the first year or so I had it, it was on this horrible setting that Boss recommended in the manual for a "Fat metal" sound. In reality it's more like a whiny screamo sound. The trick that worked for me was taking it easy on the tops, it's a very toppy pedal. Secondly, don't let either the tops or lows higher than 12 o'clock. You just have to fiddle with the Mids and Mid Freq until you get that sound you're looking for.
It would be nice to have a better amp because when you put this one louder than what you need for a bedroom it looses it's magic. When I get a bigger amp I can just see I'm going to end up micing up the MG30DFX to it.
Hope that wasn't too bad. xD

Ah thanks for the info man! ?
Squidofsymphony
Haha, I can only hope that somewhere there exists a confused soul with a brand new MT-2...or perhaps an old one he wants to fiddle with again looking for some help. As he sits down at his computer desk with the look of frustration in his eyes, he opens Firefox and in the Google search bar he types "Barely Legal 18" "Boss MT-2 settings." After the minutes that seem to go on like days of searching, he finds a post under the welcome board of a South African guitar forum. Misplaced information is appreciated a lot more when it's found in a place you didn't expect to find it and because of that one guitarist who's name I will never know that I may have helped, I will sleep well tonight.
Hey are there any South African philosophy boards out there? ?

Welcome.
Your profile picture is pretty small, but is that perhaps a cort with Duncan pickups? Wait! There's more coming to me.... a hard tail?
Was I right?
Anyway... work hard, save diligently and before you know it you'll be able to afford something better. ?

Now, I'd like to see you prove that. Currently, we have Leo Fender and Les Paul battling it out for top prize 8)
Welcome to the forum tho, interested to see some of your expressed opinions.

Welcome welcome! A man who knows what he likes, good!

Cool that you stick to your guns. As long as it doesn't swing over into trolling you'll get on fine here.
The fogeys here tend to be prepared to admit that tastes in gear differ - up until something really sticks in our craw and then the flame-wars begin ? (although, to be honest, this is a mild-mannered forum, and arguments rarely escalate to the usual levels on forums. That's a unique strength of this forum and we'll be keeping it that way).

@ Squid: you should be aware that as of 19th March Singemonkey is officially a fogey as well...

Hello & welcome ?
Can I kindly ask that you make your signature pic a bit smaller?

hey hey!
Another Centurian! Welcome dude,
I agree with some of your assertions, yes SD do make the best damned pups in the world!
And yes, d'addario ROCK
I have a setting on the MT2 that totally rocks!
Look forward to some friendly banter.
Maybe a jam sometime...
cheers!

Welcome! Lots of Seymour Duncan users here. Not sure about them being the best pickups without exception. My guitar has two of them (Alnico II Pro and Pearly Gates). Does the job well enough for me not to complain about it.
