So the guys just released the new album a few weeks ago. It's a combo of a CD and DVD together. I really am one of the biggest fpk fans, but to be honest, I expected a little bit more from them. The CD has four tracks on. The sound is still the same as most of their previously released albums, maybe just a bit heavier. The DVD has all their music videos on, I love it, maybe because I'm also from Bellville and can relate to it. The lyrics are great though, to me they always are. The album's artwork looks really rad!
Don't know if you guys are really into the whole Afrikaans Rock scene?
But go take a listen to it, it's worth the time ?

Went to go see their set at The Doors on Friday. I like the way that their live performances have progressed. Francois was sober and not as wild as before, he had some great crowd interaction - especially when his and Hunters mics died and the crowd was left to sing the song on their own, but with FPK backing! Wynand is still as wild and Johnny... I can watch Johnny play all day.
Got hold of Antibiotika yesterday. I was hoping for more than just four tracks but I must say that it does sound good. Nothing that really stands out but I like where they've come with their sound.
It's harder than Swanesang, but with more edge. Closer to their old sound (Lugsteuring etc) but more mature.
I love the Afrikaans rock scene, favs at the mo' are FPK (Fokofpolisiekar), SLK (Straatligkinders) and FND (Foto Na Dans)... Don't ask me why i refer to all of them in anagram format! ? Also digging Hikatori for the punk stuff!

FPK Really made Afrikaans music sound good and I think that they have set a huge mile stone in there scene. They gone out of there way to make it as well.
All I can say is well done FPK. What do you guys think of aKing?

Well, for those that didn't know, AKing drummer and guitarist are Hunter and Jaco from FPK, and Van Coke Kartel is Franscois (who's celebrating his birthday today) and Wynand from FPK.
Missing FPK member? Johnny... but not quite. He produces and engineers for both AKing and VCK...
and now you know.

aKing, VCK. Van Coke Kartel fall’s under Punkskelm who does all their marketing and stuff. They are like one big happy family awwww sweet… Anyway they all are doing a hell of a job I must say.
I’m also looking forward to see the VCK documentary.

aKING is sooo rad! Love their stuff. When I first got their album I only really loved The Dance, it's so catchy. but after a few weeks I eventually gave it a listen, i was like "wow!" Johnny de Ridder is also in aKING though. Have you guys heard of Die Heuwels Fantasies? Also members from FPK but I got no idea who though, might be Johnny playing in them as well. Their song Oorleweing 101 is really good.
The FPk movie, wow I really can't wait. There's a trailer on the DVD on the Antibiotika album. While watching it I got all phsyced and had this stupid grin on my face. Really want to go watch them live on the 27th at Klein Libertas, but unfortunately I'm still only 16 and my brother has a major problem with me going. It blows man. I've only seen them live once before, and....it was bad. It was at the first Coke Fest in 2006 and Francois was completely smashed, puking on stage and everything.

If it's any consolation I saw Francois at KuDeTat in Durbanville on Thursday - it was his birthday and we had a chat (I work on their guitars) - his girlfriend dumped him on the day - arme tog !
So hopefully for all the girls that like their men dirgy, he's a free agent again !

Yea I know the okes, it's Pierre Greeff (Lukraaketaar) and Hunter Kennedy (FPK / aKing). I think Johnny is the producer, but not sure on that one.
