When I'm doing car pool for my daughter it's always been whatever dad listens to and that is usually something grungy/ metal/ rock and maybe throw in some Abba and various 80's tunes for good measure. She was singing along to the chorus of breaking the law with the pinch notes included by the age of 3.........dad was so proud.
It's varying at the moment to whatever is on VH1 and her favorite is that IZ track (somewhere over the rainbow) and low and behold this morning I get asked why i don't have Katy Perry in my car.............WTF???..........she's 3.5 years old FFS...........lol. I feel as if I've failed as a parent........KATY PERRY?
At east it's not Barney......

The eldest is not much of a music listener... he'll have the radio on softly in the background when he's studdying, and he's got a stokkie full of MP3s for his car radio, usually scooterische house music kak but that's it.
The youngest (14) listens to Katy Perry ad nauseam, but he's quite clued up on the latest pop stuff, he catches the top 8 at eight every night. He LOVES blaring his radio. It's time I got myself a marshall stack to teach him a lesson muuuhahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa!

My daughter (Melody - 18) likes to play her music VERY loud, it distorts the hell out of the speakers, and usually sounds like "goof-goof-ewy-ewy-ewy-ewy-ewy-goof-goof",,, when I've decoded it I'll let you know,,, ?
My son (Andrew - 21) listens to music I can understand, like Foo fighters, CCR !!!, Green Day, Nickelback etc.

I just remembered something, I was in DISCEM this weekend with the Mrs and they played that damn annoying song, goes something like this.
I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth, I wave my hands back and forth.
I may have missed out some lyrics there...............or added some. I dunno...did I miss the memo where that was clasified as music?

Hehehe.... I'm thinking of a friend of mine who made sure that her kids grew up exposed to PROPER music. EG Moody Blues, The Stones, Procol Harum, Pink Floyd and a whole lot of allegedly traditional songsters like Burl Ives. Also a good dose of Flanders and Swann. She was very proud of this.
Until one morning her daughter, who'd been up all night at some varsity piss-up, said "Mom... remember all the music that your taught me about when I was a kid? It's all weird and my friends think I'm weird and you $*@ed my life up and I hate you and my friends think my parents are hippy drug addicts and I hate you!"

This thread rocks!

I grew up listening to Dire Straits, Led Zep, Jethro Tull, the Stones, etc. There was always music playing in our house.
It could have been THIS Barney song... which could sound pretty decent with a hot drum track, booming four strings and some filthy metal distortion rattling the rearview!
i hate you ,you hate me.
let's get together and kill barney.
with a great big gun and a bullet to the head
face it barney you are dead
I hate you, You Hate me.
Let's all go and kill Barney.
With a two by four
we'll kick him out the door.
No more purple dinosaur.
I hate you. You hate me
Lets chase barney up the tree.
With a big shot gun let's put it to his head.
Pump that lizard full of lead.
I hate you. You hate me
Lets all go and whack Barney
With a big black axe and balls of flame
Barney, you are oh so lame!
Where's the Tamla Kahn crew? DO IT! ?

Congrats man, we've just had our second 3 weeks ago........I can honestly not picture my life without my girls.......it did force me to get earphones for the first year when my eldest was born, now she just bops her head and begs to bash away with the drumsticks.
Abigail (eldest) and Natalie.

Just got the go ahead from my wife for the following gear once Caylinn are here:

Luckily I don't have any kids, so I'll add what I've listened to under influence of 13 years older brother since I can remember, wich is about a month... ( ? harharhar, since age 4/5 about), wich I still listen to today:
Metallica, Guns 'n Roses, Greenday, Nickelback, Silverchair, PapaRoach, LinkinPark, Nirvana, ACDC, SmashingPumpkins, Offspring, Live, Disturbed and Alphaville.... ? but I'll admit, I do listen to that tipe of music now and again.
If I find out I have kids oneday I'll subdue them to the carnage of hard rock and metal while bombarding them to the technical screetching solos wich art classic rock, muahaha and bring them back to sanity with softer alternative music ?
I listen to my radio the whole day and bare most of the crap the play alot of the time, but once that song mentioned above (I think thats the whole first verse btw, you still need to copy and paste the remaining 2 verses and 2 choruses) and any of Beaver's songs and a select few others I dive to the rescue of my sanity and the radio stays of for half an hour...

My girlfriend's daughter is slowly coming around. Metallica's rendition of Whiskey in the Jar and Breadfan seems to be the current favourites....

Congrats on the new arrival FFF - and you still have time (and energy) to visit the forum? ?
We went for our first scan yesterday - wife is 12 weeks pregnant at the moment. With mom, my three year old daughter listens to whatever kiddies CD's are in the car, but I flatly refuse - at the moment she asks for Jack Johnson (or John Jackson sometimes ?), but we still do a mean duet to De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da by the Police.

I have been gone from the forum for about 3 months.
Between work, pregnancy and starting my own company I did not get much time.
Missed the forum so much, but now I'm back!
