Ok so I got sent a list for SPlashy Fen in a few weeks, I am playing mainstage, and they have a list of amps I can use...... SO you guys help me here because they all sound great I think.....
I normally use a bassman, but have used an ac30..... but I dont care all these amps look and sound wonderful. ...... So for fun just ad what you think of them and what i should do ?
Fender Twin
Fender Bassman LTD
Fender Showman
Fender Bassman (BLack Face) with 2 by 15 cab
Fender deville
Vox ac30 with alnico Blues
Marshall 62 bluesbreaker combo
MARSHALL 1960B 4 X 12" CLASSIC
There are alot more but these ones stuck out ?
please post videos, and stuff, help streamline the work down..... I know some other guys are also playing splashy so this helps them to

While in theory it'd be great to able to play a bluesbreaker combo loud enough to make it sound awesome, I've heard the reissues are not much like the Clapton original. So unless it's an original, scratch that.
The Showman is way to squeaky clean for the likes of you. And come on. No way Mika's playing a deville. Which leaves you with some pretty hot options. I would recommend that sir tries either the Vox AC30, or, if sir prefers, the Twin.

I know the other guy in my band will want the twin....... to but they also have 3 available!!!! crazyness....
Cool so -1 for bluesbreaker RI's........ I was thinking about stereo ing the bassman and twin........ do you think it could induce favourable results? get the bassman a bit dirty then have that ballsy twin behind it

I can't say I have any experience in that regard, but it sounds like an opportunity to do it.

well how worried are you about being able to get your sound?
id go for what gets you closest to your sound without overly tweaking. we played a show using the house amps.. i went intl a marshall tsl and it sucked because we couldnt get our sound. it just threw me hearing the harsh trebly sound my guit was producing

Stereo the 2 Bassmans.... I am salivating at the thought....

Well I use a bassman so I shall probably opt for those...... whats a 2 by 15 cab sound like?????
The bassman 59 ltd sounds great apparently..... never played one.....
I left a whole bunch of the list such as marshalls, laney's. and a mesa

Don't see it as an opportunity to try something new. Stick with what you know and don't leave anything to chance. K.I.S.S. Big show, main stage, you don't want to struggle with trying to get your sound out of a different amp.
The '59 Bassman LTD is a Tweed model - totally different animal to a Silver or Blackface. The AC30, 15" Bassman or one of the Twins will be closest to amps you've had and know well. Possibly the Showman, (which is basically a 15" loaded Twin) - but I don't know them well enough to comment knowledgeably. You're using a Bassman now, so the 15" model would be my recommendation (but I'd see if they can organise a 4 X 10 or 2 X 12 cab for it.
Using the two Bassmans in Stereo is an option and you'll find the mid heavy Tweed will fit around the scooped Black or Silverface sound quite well, but once again not something I'd try for the first time at a big important show (especially with a second guitarist on stage, who you have to blend with). Once again, K.I.S.S. is the order of the day.

True on the tweed being alot different.... I have used a twin before, and an ac30.... but I dont think Ile opt for the ac30 again as my pedal setup is a bit weird for that amp...... Ac30's and ts808's dont mix well I find..... weird I know....
Twin and bassman is gonna be my probably choice, I might pop down to music connection and try a tweed bassman and see how it sounds with my gear...... Hopefully they dont mind
Showman is 85 watts, but I am weirded out by the one speaker......... Ah perhaps bassman through marshall 4 by 10 cab ????

When I got the gear list for Splashy, I was drooling.. Loads of nice stuff to choose from. Not just guitar amps, but very nice drum gear too!
For me, I'm thinking AC30. Possibly the Twin as well, have used it for recording and love the tones as well.
BTW Mika, are you guys staying the whole weekend?
MIKA-the-better-one
yeh will be there thursday, through sunday...... My band plus a few roadies/ freinds/ cool people......
I am pretty set on the bassman just for the sake of my sound, but the temptation is there to try all of them ?
