The best thing that's come out of this WC so far is Imran Tahir.
Looks to have some serious skills, he gives the ball a lot of action, he's pretty accurate, and he has a great googly...finally SAfrica has a leg spinner. ?
He's fun to watch and isn't scared to mix it up. He got Trott (IIRC) very nicely in the last match. Smith bought him back on and he opened up with the googly. Trott didn't read it and Tahir knew that he hadn't read it and exploited that. Trott went out on the third uncertain shot.
There's two leg spinners doing well and providing great entertainment so far in the WC - Tahir and Afridi.
Tahir might have the traditional leg spinner's weakness of a bad ball per over. We'll have to see as the batsmen get to know more about him, but there's signs of it already.
This is not necessarily a cruel criticism. The benchmark leg spinner in this day and age is, of course, Shane Warne, but what made Warne remarkable was his control and the absence of that occasional bad ball. Other leggies have spun the ball as hard as Warne did, and many of them had a better googly, but Warne was almost unique in his precision and control. Richie Benaud may have come close.
