My jingle jangle is sounding very nice. I hope I will be able to get it done in time, we're busy renovating the house so my spare time is a bit limited at the moment :-\

Downloaded the free GuitarRig 4 but now I don't know jack about how to set everything up and how to use it :-\ tried reading all the old posts on recording in the forum, just confused me some more...

Had the same problem, plug 'n play it is not! Definitely follow the setup guide for your O/S (XP/Vista/OS X/Win7) step by step, and don't skip anything. (Aka "Tuning Tips for Audio Processing"). I went through it twice before it started coming together.

But it's worth the effort setting it up, the Native Instruments user forums are pretty good and the guys on there are realy helpful (unlike the NI manuals). Oddly, when I plugged it into Reaper as a VST, I found GR was a hell of a lot easier to use...(and stable!) so now, I only run GR4 through Reaper.

Lost all my links in the re-install =( - and there wasn't any really useful GR4 tutorials on youtube - "slug 'n pray"?

Haha, thanx, I hate reading, but it looks like I have no choice. Tell me, can you add drums, etc through guitarrig4 on its own and if so where and how do I get the plugins and what not to do so (sorry, I'm an idiot when it comes to these things :-\ )

Question: I haven't entered before, still contemplating if I'm going to embarrass myself musically - so I'm not 100% sure about the 4 instrument thing.
I checked out the rules in the comp section. Does '4 instruments' mean 4 separate instruments? ie. I'm only allowed one guitar track, + 3 other kinds of instruments.
Or can I do drums and 3 different guitar tracks on top? I'm sure some of the old entries I listened to had more than one guitar track in it...

And if you're allowed only one guitar, does it count then if I use 3 different guitars - they're 3 separate instruments afterall ?

All four instruments can be guitars if you want.

The way I interpret the track rule is that you can have up to 4 instruments say Drums, Bass, Rhythm (keys or guitar) and Lead. One of your instruments preferable the Lead has to be guitar. You can have use as many tracks as you like to render any one of your instruments Some people use 4 or more tracks to render a drum pattern. Sound FX like water, creaking doors, are considered part of the drum track if they are short shots or rhythm if they are a pad sequence (long sounds). You don't have yo have 4 instruments you can use just 1 if you like as long as it is a guitar.

I'm also battling with time around my studies, I have a little something that I can slap together but don't know if I'm going to get to recording it ☹ why does an engineering student have to set up damn bussiness plans anyway >☹
