Great post, thanks Alan. I had actually planned my ditty for 28 bars @ 112bpm but didn't use a metronome and, as a result, overshot by 4 seconds. ?

Same as before... 3 categories... Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. You choose the category you wish to enter. Just make sure you clearly state this when you send your entry to Rene.

I take my comment back about the whole subjective thing.

This is going to be fun, I can't wait to hear all the different entries out there ? I'm even getting a bass friend of mine to co-op with me on my project.

OK, so my submission is in - I know I had until the 23rd but I had to rush it because we're leaving on holidays (Thailand ftw!) on Tuesday. This was fun but one thing is clear though, I've got loads to learn as regards recording on my computer. Expect some threads on the topic soon ?

But I'm not sure I understand this concept of Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced levels. All entries are still thrown into the same pool and voted on in the same poll isn't it?

@Deefstes. If there's 3 categories, you get 3 votes. One for each of your favourites per category. You don't have to use them all, but imo why would you not want to? Thats the beauty of the categories. When you enter as a beginner you won't be judged against an advanced entry. So even if you get a million votes less than an entry in another category, you can still win yours by getting just 1 more than the next most popular entry.

Aha, that makes sense. Does that mean that each category has a winner and the winner of winner gets to pick the theme for the next challenge? Also, does it mean that, should a beginner pull off some brilliant piece while the advanced members just happen to have a poor month, it could in theory happen that a beginner becomes the ultimate winner?

Take note, all of the above is merely academic as I have no hope of winning, I just had fun recording a little ditty.

You can even do just one track of guitar playing, Also doesn't have to be exactly one minute either. 45 seconds is cool.

mmmh, i might have some time this month to dust of the guitar rig again.
i have't written anything yet but it would probably be silly stuff again.

Downloaded the free GuitarRig 4 but now I don't know jack about how to set everything up and how to use it :-\ tried reading all the old posts on recording in the forum, just confused me some more...
Can't they just make everything plug and play :?
